Pumpkin Etymology

The word PUMPKIN originated from the greek word PEPON which means large melon.
In the 17th century the French referred to the giant squash as POMPION
which was later penned by Shakespeare as PUMPION
and finally settled by the American colonists as PUMPKIN.
Each derivation cuter than the one before.... don't you think?
Hope you are enjoying the fruits of the season in every variation.
