Mistaken Identity

I LOVE pumpkins. I love to eat them. I love to carve them.
I love to display them throughout my house as soon as they hit
the local markets. From miniatures to monsters, bumpy or smooth
I am forever on the prowl for some new variety to spice up my
holiday decor. So when I saw this little red munchkin at the local
grocery store my heart skipped a beat. Could this be the elusive
Rouge D'Etant variety that I've only read about but never actually
seen in person? Much to my disappointment this little masquerader
is an heirloom tomato. Even so, I couldn't resist the purchase.
I predict that it won't take to kindly to a Jack O Lantern carving
but I do see a yummy dinner in the very near future.

This cracks me up! I love it though! My heirloom tomatoes are still ripening on the vine. Maybe I'll get a pumpkin!

We must be kindred spirits! I have to leave hubby at home when I go shopping for pumpkins....he doesn't get it...lol. I always put pumpkins here and there around the house, usually from my garden. But, alas, this year there were none, so now I'm anxiously awaiting their arrival at the stores an markets. Do you find you still have pumpkins hanging around in January?
